I’m Nicola Henderson and I’m a writer. I live with my 10-year-old son, Alexander, and two marmalade cats in rural Perthshire.
We’re recent immigrants from the city, starting over in every way: new friends, new school, freelance work and country life. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing, but making this huge change just felt like the right thing to do. I’m a big believer in instinct. Watch this space to see how it all works out.
Family life can be complicated, can’t it? Roles and relationships are forever changing in my life. I’ve recently separated from my husband, who made the big move with us last year. Significant moves can produce significant shifts, it turns out. So I’m back to being a single parent. It’s not my first time; I know how to do it, but that doesn’t necessarily make it easy.
I’ll be blogging about the inevitable ups and downs in relationships with family, friends and the people in my life. I really hope we can share our experiences here because we could all do with a little support sometimes. I’d love to hear what you think in the comments section.
