If you are having difficulty coming to terms with the end of a relationship then individual counselling can help you to work through your issues and move forward.

Family breakdown is distressing. You will be probably be worried about the effect on your children. We can help in different ways.

Parenting Apart Sessions are an opportunity for you to find out how to make separation less stressful. These sessions provide information and insights on what to consider when making arrangements for your children, as well as an opportunity to talk.  Parenting Apart sessions are generally run with a group of mums and dads.  Individual sessions might also be available.

Family mediation services support children, parents, grandparents and other significant adults in the children's lives through family change and disruption as a result of separation, divorce or family restructuring. Mediation services are located in all parts of mainland and island Scotland.

The aim of mediation is to agree on practical, workable arrangements for the future, taking into account children’s views, needs and feelings. Our focus is on putting children’s needs first and making separation less stressful for everyone.

In the aftermath of a breakup, it can sometimes be difficult for the parent or other significant adult who doesn't live with their children to maintain contact with their children. Relationships Scotland runs child contact centres throughout Scotland where a parent or other significant adult who lives apart can spend time with their children, or collect and return the children to the other parent at the start and end of visits. Adults do not have to see or speak to each other at contact centres.
