I am 28 years old and work in digital media for an international aid charity. I am about to become a dad for the very first time to a little girl. This is the part where I tell you all that “it is filling me with dread” or that “I don’t know what to do with a little girl…I mean a little boy I can handle, but a little girl?” or even “that my life is ending.” However, I am not going to. I don’t feel any of those things whatsoever.

I am absolutely filled with wonder, joy and hope. The most exciting chapter in my life is just beginning. I am super excited to introduce her to the world and give her my take on things.I have already started to wonder what she will be interested in.

I am keen to introduce my little one to my range of passions which include comic books, vegan cooking, literature, 80s pop rock and modern art. Will she enjoy the work of Rothko too? Will she be passionate about charity like me? Will family and friends be part of her everyday life?

In the coming months, I will be keeping you updated on my early experiences with my daughter and hopefully we’ll all learn something or it’ll just be fun. My wife may or may not feature, she is keen to be like the Osbourne kid that you never hear of.

Looking forward to reading more – I’m always interested in a Dads perspective. I hope so far the first six months have been packed to the brim with the joy you talked of!
