Today is Time to Talk Day, it’s a great day to make sure you take some time out to talk to others about what matters to you.

Talking is such a simple task, we do it every day, often without thinking, but how often do you talk meaningfully and how often does someone listen to you in an equally meaningful way?

Its great, of course, to carve out some time today to talk to someone if you know what you want to talk about, but if you don’t know what the issue is how can you talk about it?

Perhaps you haven’t pin pointed the issue but there’s a troublesome feeling right down in the pit of your stomach, something that’s telling you things aren’t quite right but you can’t put your finger on it, instead there could be signs; you may feel like you want to withdraw from others, and find it hard to talk to the people you love, and who love you. You might find parts or all of life overwhelming, this could be related to anything from parenting to finances. Or there might be something in the past that keeps on affecting your present life, or an incident from the past that continues to circle your mind. Maybe there has been a change in your mood, you may feel repeatedly low or upset, missing your natural energy, being unmotivated, lacking in self-esteem, or difficulty focusing on things that matter. Or you could just feel angry or frustrated.

If any of these descriptions resonate with you, this is where counselling could help you and seeking out professional help could be the way forward.

At Relationships Scotland we offer an array of counselling across all parts of Scotland, counsellors  who are ready to really listen to you when there is something you really need to speak about.

Counselling can offer you a collection of advantages within the protected time you have one on one with your counsellor. It can give you a space to stop and reflect – what do you want to talk about and why is it important to you? – in a place that is safe, where you can express yourself without judgement.

A good counsellor will really listen. They will put your interests at the heart of the conversation, making you feel able to focus on what matters to you, making you the most important person in the room.

So, take the time today, to listen or to be heard and if you find that counselling might help give us a call to find out how we can support you. We start with one conversation – how can we help? There’s no obligation on you to take up our services. We’re ready when you are. And who knows, one meaningful conversation might prove transformational.
